| But
the main reason for our trip was to celebrate the 50th birthday of
our friend Chris Terry. In actuality, his birthday
was a shared event with his friend and cricket buddy Paul.
Both Deborah and
Paul's wife Ros, got together and planned this bash at
Lains
Barn, for about 200 of just their closest friends.
Replete with
incredible food and massive amounts of wine, we danced our asses
off till the wee hours of the morning, to the sounds of an
incredible, 9-piece "classic rock" cover band.
Drunk and
completely exhausted, we made it back to our warm Oxfordian bed.
A good night's sleep was what the doctor ordered but instead we
were greeted at dawn's early light by the cheerful tones of our
birthday boy. At least he came bearing refreshment... a pot
of hot, steaming coffee.
I must have had a
good time at the party because it took a half dozen aspirin and a
30 minute hot shower to return me to a state of humanity.
