| Munich:
On the following day, we met my friend Karin who took a day
off work to show us around Munich and the small Bavarian town of
Garmisch.
Needless to say, the mountains were
breathtaking. Munich was much like other large cities; crowded and
very trendy (at least the part of town where we stayed). |
Within
minutes of our arrival in Munich, I learned my first "real
German" word... Einbahnstrasse. Loosely translated it means
"You stupid American tourist - why can't you learn to
drive"
|
We
got smart in Munich... we dumped our rental car and relied on Germany's
fantastic public transportation to get us around. So now, instead
of taking 1 1/2 days to drive to Berlin, we hopped a high-speed train
and made the trip in 7 hours ... drinking copious amounts of wine and
eating my favorite food - wiener schnitzel - we arrived in Berlin
very contented. |
