One Down - One To Go...

Tallahassee FL - 12/12/98 - It took just over four years but the first of our two sons has successfully completed college and is on the road to financial independence.

Sean completed his 4 ½ year tour of duty at Florida State University in Tallahassee. On Saturday, December 12th, he received his Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering along with 2,165 other parasitic siblings.

Commencement exercises lasted an agonizing 3 hours.   Thank goodness I had the foresight to bring along my portable CD player.   It allowed me to melodically escape the torturous and monotonic drone of some Dean, as he read the names of more than 2,000 graduating students.

I did manage to piss off some old guy seated directly in front of me.  It seems, he took umbrage to my incessant (albeit unconscious) tapping and humming to the musical ramblings of Pink Floyd.

Immediately following the graduation, we returned to Sean’s apartment where his fiancée’s parents had set up a nice, cozy family celebration. Next August he and Jennifer move to Florida where he begins a special Masters program in Audio Engineering offered only at the University of Miami. But for now his BSEE degree will not go to waste - Sean will be working at Radio Shack assisting customers in making their correct choice of batteries.
